6/29/08: Issue 4.2 Available!
According to its mission statement, “InterActions seeks to promote alternative and liberatory visions, methodologies and practices” (Mission, Aims). In issue 4.2, a remarkably coherent affirmation of the journal‘s vision emerges from the articles collected here. Liberatory visions, to borrow a phrase from one of the authors, are based on “the premise that theory should be practical and practices should be theorized.” We hope that you enjoy this new addition to the journal!
3/18/2008 Information Studies Book Review Editor Search...
The book review editor is responsible for seeing IS book reviews through most of the editorial process. The editor must obtain and keep track of review copies of books from publishers, locate suitable reviewers, and provide feedback to reviewers during the initial revision process. The task can be challenging but exciting in a transdisciplinary field like information studies, and the book review editor should be prepared to cast a broad net in search of books relevant to the field and to the mission of InterActions.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop important professional skills and strengthen your resume. While previous editorial experience is valued, interested parties new to academic publishing should not hesitate to apply. The editor selected will be thoroughly briefed on the details of the job by an experienced InterActions book review editor.
Applicants who are applying for the GSR position of IS Editor are encouraged to apply for the position of Book Review Editor as well.
Applicants should send an email describing their interests and experience to interactions@gseis.ucla.edu by April 11, 2008.
Please attach a CV. The Editors would like to take this occasion to thank Renate Chancellor and Shari Lee for their expert and dedicated service as the IS Book Review Co-Editors for the last two years.
2/27/08: Welcome to the InterActions Homepage!
We welcome you to the first phase of the InterActions homepage. The journal has always been online with the help of the eScholarship Repository, but we have now created a channel through which we can post updates and announcements, information about our editorial board, accept feedback for moderated discussions, and much more. We invite you to explore, submit your feedback on topics of interest, and as always, download articles at leisure. Thank you for visiting!
2/27/08: Call for Papers
As an online open access journal, we are open for article and book review submissions on a rolling basis. We invite you to look at the mission of the journal, the submission guidelines, and if you believe your work is within the scope of the mission, please create a profile through the eScholarship Repository and submit your paper as soon as you are ready. If you have any questions about the submission process, please email us.
